Tricorder is a Trekkie geek toy that turns your Android phone into a Tricorder. However, it's not totally a toy, as it uses real data from your phone's sensors -- you may be surprised at how many sensors your phone has. Currently it can display acceleration; the local magnetic field; light, proximity and temperature readings (if your phone has these sensors -- the G1 does not); your location from various providers; and the availability and strength of cellular and wifi signals.

Tricorder displays gravitation and magnetic field, environmental and geographic information based on information from the sensors in the device.
Accuracy is limited to what the sensors can provide. In particular the magnetic field sensor on the G1 phone seems to be pretty erratic, though it sometimes works quite well.
Tricorder runs on QVGA and HVGA displays, in landscape and portrait modes. On real hardware, it has been tested on the T-Mobile G1.
