Android Audio Recorder is the open source project for the built-in audio recorder in Android.
Since many devices do not come with this application, here is a build for the Audio Recorder directly from https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/SoundRecorder.git (without changing any line of code).
The application is completely free and does not have any advertisement.

  QUESTION!? If I use this app does it allow/give permission to anybody, other then myself, to access and listen to my recordings. Given the fact that it's free, and has no ads or in app purchases, what's the catch!? Altruism is an extremely rare virtue.   The interface is simple but straightforward, however the biggest downside is that it stops recording as soon as the screen is locked or simply times out. A request to the developers to please fix this or at least make it optional.

  its pretty good for a ad free audio recorder. it should have a option to lock the recordings that way it's not deleted elsewhere by accident.
