This app scans for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices and estimates the distance in metres between the user and the scanned devices.
Distances are based on signal strength (RSSI) and are therefore crude estimates. Also useful for social distancing applications
Notes:
- It is difficult to differentiate between smartphones and other Bluetooth enabled peripherals.
- Apple phones often have two BLE profiles.
- Distance calculation is calibrated to the user being outdoors in the open.
