Musical Bead® by MeloTech is the next revolution to the music industry. It offers an exciting new way of distributing music via a NFC chip embedded into a physical object. The sale of music on physical media
has declined over the past few years to the point where downloaded and streaming music has
surpassed physical media sales. Interestingly, however is that the emergence of new technologies
in media has ironically amplified the desire for many to purchase music the “good old fashioned
way” as reflected in the rising number of vinyl LP sales, up 51% annually (Nielson, 2014).
With no viable alternative to purchase music in the marketplace, people are often forced to buy
impersonal gift cards for iTunes. Musical Bead® would enable the gift of music by combining jewelry
with technology, making it as much a fashion accessory as it is a way to creatively download and
share music.
