Description of My Healthy

I’ve spent my life contemplating my health and well-being. I’m always searching for the deeper meanings within my life to help me reach my potential of being the best me I can be. Then I got cancer.
At the time of my diagnosis (Hairy Cell Leukemia), I was living as an expat in Macao, Asia. Less than a year before, I had left my teaching position, and my new full-time job became losing weight and getting fit. I was shocked with the diagnosis. I had just spent a better part of the year striving to be the healthiest I can be, and now I’d become the sickest I had ever been in my life.
Beyond just dealing with a cancer diagnosis, I had to face truths within myself. I had to get well, and it started immediately. I juggled motherhood, day-to-day life, and marriage, all while traveling between Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan to get cancer treatment.
In addition to following the doctor’s protocol, I decided to pay attention to my gut health; my diet, my attitude and the rest I needed. Only four months later, I was cancer free and in remission.
I realized I was a sugar addict and believe that removing refined sugars from my diet was a huge kick start to my health. I believe strongly that the body has the ability to heal itself, even from cancer, and I am constantly looking for information that will support this belief.
Beyond the cancer, I see that we struggle to find balance in all aspects of our lives. It’s been a journey of learning how to let my true self shine through every day.
