Subhash Singh the Founder of MANI TRUST, reminisces the days when he as a kid was strictly warned by his overlay affectionate mother to stay away from water as she was advised by her fortune teller that her son’s life would be at stake if he was overly indulged with water. As a result, he had to avoid it like a plague, and was not just even permitted to learn swimming.
As time rolled on, the Founder started dabbing in business at the age of 20 and was able to stand on his feet. He suddenly fell ill in March, 2010 while on a business trip Kolkata. Much to his astonishment, his consulting doctor declared both his kidney has been damaged because of reasons beyond his comprehension. He was caught unaware because of this but refuse to buy in his utter loss.
The young man stood strong with the hope that it could be cured like any other diseases, but sadly, he was proved wrong. He started feeling sack and sluggish, and was finally bedridden. Finally after accepting his fate, he was rushed to CMC in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, and later to Chennai – based St. Thomas Hospital. Both these hospitals conformed that his kidneys had been damaged.
For almost 40 months, he survived without the functioning of his kidneys and was dependent only on dialysis. He no doubt had the emotional support of his family that includes his parents, siblings, wife and his children. Finally he underwent kidney transplantation on 6th of October, 2013. During this period of intense adversity, he realized that he was suffering from a disease related to water but still found it difficult to believe the prediction of the fortune teller and often thought that it was merely a coincidence.
Finally, after he got a new ease of life, he now finds his life totally changed. Whenever he digs into the past, al that he gets is pain which brings tears to his eyes. However, even after witnessing the predicament, he still seems to look bright and find him lucky enough to get access to ‘state – of – the – art’ medical treatment.
