PURPOSE
To provide a TG-71 based monitor unit (MU) verification mobile tool to ensure the accuracy, safety and effectiveness of the patient treatment dose per field. At the same time, we want to provide a tool which is available to everyone involved in the treatment of the radiotherapy patient, in order to multiply those taking part in the quality control process.
Materials and Methods: The mobile application MU QC (Monitor Units Quality Control) was written in an Android environment. The app incorporates TG-71 PDD, TPR, OF, WF dosimetric data and Njeh et. al., EDW OF dataset for MU calculation. The application provides calculated MUs for open square/rectangular fields in SSD and/or SAD setups.
Results: Validation of the mobile application was carried out by comparing the calculated MUs to MUs calculated by the AAA algorithm of the Eclipse treatment planning software in water and for clinical cases. The AAA was fed with the standard dosimetric data preconfigured and contained in the Planning System itself. MU deviations of
Conclusions: MU QC proves to be a useful and user-friendly tool for performing a simple audit of basic dosimetric parameters measured and entered in the planning system, and of the planning of the treatment itself.
