The Wakirike Language (Kirikeni Okwein) is spoken by over half a million people worldwide but numbers have been falling. There is renewed interest in learning the language especially among young people and young adults. This coincides with our organizational commitment to the revival of teaching, reading, speaking and writing of the language at different settings: home, school, work place, church, playground and community using various media: books, audiotape, CDs, mp3s, videos, online – Facebook, YouTube Channel, WhatsApp and on our website.
Developing the Kirikeni Okwein App has appeal to an increasing number of people in our technology-driven society.
The app features:
* Over 25 topics and hundreds of common conversational words and sentences featuring text, sound and graphics
* Easy navigation, colourful illustrations.
* Attached voice notes to each section that give the correct pronunciation of words and sentences.
* Contents can be viewed offline.
* Interactions with other users (if required) on WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube channel and real-life advanced speakers and teachers who can answer questions
The App is free to use and future upgrades will take the fun to the next level with quizzes and games.
