the app works fine on my motorola, HTC & ZTE phones but not on my LG which came out this year. I don't care much for the app going offline from 10pm -7am . That"s the time i have to check these things. After my kids go to bed. And there's no instructions to which set of numbers to input manually on 2nd chance drawing. Since the app doesnt work on some phones entering the number manually shoukd be an option . i would like to be able to check the current. odds of winning stats on scratchers

I am reluctant to say that it doesn't scan tickets but that has been my experience. Granted I have just tried it but multiple attempts to scan tickets don't work. The error dialog box doesn't help much. Telling somebody that the app doesn't work isn't helpful. What is needed is information to say what the problem is. OS ? Hardware ? Poor camera ? While I have the requisite Android OS and hardware at least from what I can read then I don't know what the problem is. The camera seems fine. What would help is if the camera doesn't work which seems to be the majority of the cases here then the error dialog box should say so. I don't think CA lottery ships out their app without doing a thorough QA check on their phones. You have to go out and actually get the individual phones and check. The standard CA lame response of saying did you check the bar code gets tiring. It is OK to say that but the simple fact after having others installing the app complaining that they can't scan their tickets seem lame. Also, I understand that you can't check every phone's camera. Fine. But at least go out and check the common ones and if you know that a common phone isn't going to be supported and that definitely seems to be the case then explicitly say which phones are supported. Your error message boxes saying that ticket can't be scanned isn't very helpful. I uninstalled the app. Others have told me that they had similar problems with scanning tickets which was the reason I installed the app in the first place. I suspect that this app is going to need some major QA work with regards to scanning and I don't see CA lottery stepping up to the plate. If you are going to use it to scan tickets then most likely you need a phone that has a very good camera. Unfortunately, CA Lottery doesn't appear to check the camera you have on the phone when you install the app. CA Lottery probably checks the OS. Best advice I can give is that if you have a low end phone with not a very high quality camera is that the app isn't likely to work. Although some of the comments here lead me to the impression that the app doesn't work on some high end phones either. After talking to others who play the Lottery a LOT more than I do, the conclusion is that CA Lottery should stop issuing the app until they can get their bugs fixed. This is your typical app that was shipped out the door with minimal QA. CA Lottery should just depub the app and fix it. That won't happen of course. While the following isn't a large sample size, 1. You sometimes can get a Fantasy 5 or Super Lotto ticket to scan. 2. Forget scratchers. The scanner won't even try. This is based on a sample size of about 10 different phones. Key operative word here being different. So if CA lottery comes back and tells you that it is a phone problem then here is a wake up call for CA Lottery. It isn't a phone issue. It's a crappy app issue. I really never had a problem with bad code as I probably have shipped a lot of code that I am not proud of. But on the other hand, I don't go around saying it is user error by coming back and saying in some many words, Are you sure you what you are doing ? In this context, Yes, CA Lottery we really do know what we are supposed to scan. It's the APP, stupid. Update Dec.8, 2020:let me explain this in simple terms that the CA Lottery can understand. IT'S THE APP STUPID. It doesn't scan tickets. I had two elderly neighbors trying to scan tickets with this app since the 2nd chance page says to download the app to scan tickets. Needless to say my elderly neighbors haven't been able to get the app to scan tickets. So let me tell CA Lottery Again. IT'S THE APP STUPID. Having shipped software, I know that it is a big pain to get video and audio to work. And it isn't easy to check to make sure it works on everything. And it won't work on everything. Here is another friendly request to CA LOTTERY. STOP SHIPPING APPS THAT DON'T WORK. If your app can't scan tickets for 2nd chance then it is worthless.
