Description of Bluetooth SPP Manager

Bluetooth SPP Manager is an app, which provides communication between Bluetooth enabled devices. Therefore it uses the RFCOMM Protocol also known as Serial Port Protocol (SPP) to transmit data between devices. This app shows various properties of connected Bluetooth devices as well as devices around and communicates with them. A built in server can accept incoming connections from any other device. Furthermore this app has an integrated Real Time Clock Manager. With this feature someone can send the current or some predefined time to a remote device. For example this enables to set the RTC of a microcontroller and further show the current time on a LCD.

IMPORTANT:
At the moment i have to disable the calendarview every time the keyboard pops up. This is because of a bug in the calendarview widget, which forces the app to hang the first time and close the second time a keyboard pops up and overlays the view. Therefore there may be bugs related to the used soft-keyboard. The app works great with standard Android keyboard. Please report compatibility issues with other keyboards. In this case just open the keyboard, close it again and the calendarview will be visible again.

Shows an ad on every connect, worthless to debug a system. Doesnt store discovery requests so it spams the screen once again making it worthless for debugging.

Bluetooth SPP Manager - Screen rotation not supported. - Text on Tabs was not visible until I scrolled right. Initially on the devices tab with "Search Devices" and "Disconnect", but dark gray bar above displayed no text. - Tab text sometimes disappears after pressing 'Clear History' on the BT Messenger tab. Scrolling left or right brings the tab text back. - Devices tab only showed me previously paired devices, never showed me near by devices. My intent: Use phone to act as a Bluetooth serial scanner to test my own application. Cannot always take the test scanner with me, but do have my phone with me. Connected phone to Win7 PC using Control Panel. Selected Autostart Bluetooth Server & Automatic Visibility in Bluetooth SPP Manager settings. + On PC, saw 2 new COM ports, 'Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM#)'. + Using Powershell and Windows Management Interface(WMI) able to query for the devices, and able to get the VID and PID of phone. Validated VID & PID at Bluetooth dot com website. After rebooting phone and PC able to run my test app and read the data sent from the phone. Nice test utility with limited functionality for now. Keep up the good work. S8
