State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), an arm of the Department of Rural Development, Uttar Pradesh, has decided to shortlist and select candidates for Banking Correspondent Sakhis (BC Sakhi) to be assigned in each of the Gram Panchayats of Uttar Pradesh. This app is approved by the SRLM, UP for the user for submitting their applications after being registered. The App, as per the notification of SRLM, DoRD, was launched on June 11, 2020 and the date for closure of submission of application has been extended to August 17, 2020. Candidates would have to be resident of the GP they want to apply for. The candidates from existing SHGs are encouraged to apply. Deserving candidates, who are not representing any SHG too should apply considering the prospect of forming new SHGs around the potential candidates.
Pioneering initiative: This is the first time that (a) BC Sakhis are being deputed with strong assistance from the State Government, and (b) ICT-integrated stage-based selection process has been adopted. Technology-assistance would aim to attain 100% financial inclusion and seek everyone’s access to financial services. The BC Sakhis would play a pivotal role in achieving such.
