Hafiz Ibn e Kaseer wrote a famous commentary on the Qur'an named Tafseer al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓeem which linked certain Hadith, or sayings of Muhammad (pbuh), and sayings of the sahaba (R) to verses of the Qur'an, in explanation.
