Solar Potential gives data related to solar photovoltaic (PV) potential for entire India and it exclusively gives data for Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The data is concisely displayed in form of monthly and yearly energy generation (kWh/acre). Here, the locations with high and low solar energy generation potential in India have been identified through systematic analysis by computing the solar energy parameters at every grid point (0.1˚ × 0.1˚). The work has been extended with more detailed study for Gujarat,Andhra Pradesh and the newly formed Telangana states. The data points considered for the states are (0.1˚ × 0.1˚) having resulted in adding more number of locations.
In Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), scientific research has been carried out to gather information on solar energy potential prior to the installation of solar photovoltaic power plant at some location in India. So several computations and simulations were performed to find energy generation of locations of India. So the data was decided to be used in the form of an application so that people can know about the scopes of solar photovoltaic installation.
In this application, user can get information about Solar PV Potential for any location in India through Google Map. When user will tap on the location, details about latitude, longitude, location name and energy potential will be displayed in the output window.
