Super OST
(
Old School Tempest
) is a retro space vector game that gives a nod to one of my favorite Atari games of all time.
It's a really fun game to introduce your kids to if they're interested in the types of games we played as kids ourselves!
There are over a
dozen
levels with increasing difficulty!
There's an
amazing
soundtrack that adds to the excitement!
There's
explosions
!
Lots and
lots
of particles flying all over the place!!!
Nice little touches like old school monitor scan lines!!
There's retro sound effects to round out the whole experience!!
Oh, and did I mention explosions? ;)
Gameplay
In this game, you play as a spaceship and must defeat all the enemies in your path.
Your ship is mounted with blasters, of course, but it also features a one-time use superzap that nukes anything on the board (
it recharges when you start a new level - don't worry
).
To play, use your finger to swipe around on the screen to move the ship.
Press the first red button to fire your blaster and hold the button for continuous fire!
Press the second magenta button to fire your superzap if you need to.
It will turn blue when it's discharged but will recharge at the beginning of each round.
Tap the
Pause
text at the top of the screen to pause the game.
Every 10,000 points you'll get a new ship, as well.

Note:
Even though this is a retro-style game, it can really be a lot for older phones to handle due to the amount of explosions and particle effects that can happen sometimes.
If you have a new-ish device made in the last few years you should be ok.
In any event, even though the game takes advantage of dedicated graphics hardware if present, some graphical slowdown when the action is intense is
normal
. :)
