Description of Civil War: 1861

Civil War: 1861 covers the opening battles of the American Civil War. The game covers both the small and large actions of that momentous year, starting with the battle at 'Big Bethel', on to the comparatively vast engagements at 'Bull Run' and 'Wilson's Creek'.
In 1861 both sides have plenty of volunteer recruits who, though enthusiastic, lack battlefield experience. On the weaponry side much of the equipment still belongs to the Napoleonic Era with a plethora of muzzle loading, smoothbore artillery.
Many of the commanders, who most would identify as the leaders the civil war armies, are still junior officers in the engagements recreated in this game. Command the Union or Confederate forces in these key battles.

I wish this game had more visual and interactive content like scenes of different landmarks and different cities and towns and different scenes of after battle pics

Stilted against the human player. Why are the enemy units so massive and experienced? As you progress, this issue escalates. Poor gaming design this the only way you can make the computer odds better? Another don't buy app. Waste of money.

A must have for Civil War buffs! Just 1 question. Playing as the Union on Campaign 1 Opening Shots Mission 1 Boonville, I just cannot move into the Victory Hex even after it is empty so I always lose. Is there any reason why infantry cannot move into a Victory Hex even though it is empty and well within their move radius?

The AI is not very advanced and the game is pretty simple. You have troop types and terrain/training/flanking/etc that effects the numbers. However, there isn't really that much strategy to the game. The scenarios are set up in a way that basically whoever attacks first with the strongest troops will win. At least, that is how it appears whenever I play. With that said, these developers are the only ones who make games like this on the Android store. Until that changes, this is what you are stuck with if you want to see troops fighting each other board game style.
