Your finished Cross Number will yield a little truism written onto the SOLUTION dashes. First, fill in as many answers to the DEFINITIONS as you can. Then, transfer their letters onto both the SOLUTION dashes and other WORDS dashes with identical numbers, since in each Cross Number, a letter is allowed to have more than one number.
