Description of Demon Mark: A Russian Saga

Call upon the power of your cursed Demon Mark to battle dragons, witches, and an undead army! Beware: each time you use it, the Mark grows stronger.
"Demon Mark: A Russian Saga" is a 200,000-word interactive fantasy novel by Vlad Barash and Lorraine Fryer, steeped in Russian folklore. It's entirely text-based, without graphics or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Once upon a time, in the land of Rus, you lived a simple life as the firstborn child of peasant farmers. But when the evil demon Uhin places the Demon Mark upon you and kidnaps your parents' second child, you'll set out on an epic adventure to reunite your family.
On your journey through Russian folklore, you'll confront the treacherous witch Baba Yaga, the seven-headed dragon Zmey Gorynych, the mythic giant Svyatogor, and the villainous Koschei the Deathless with his army of corpses.
Team up with the bogatyrs, the heroes of Russian folk tales: strong Ilya Muromets, pious Alyosha Popovich, and wise Marya Morevna. You and your talking animal companion will journey all the way to the Tsar and Tsaritsa's court in Kiev for assistance on your quest. Will the bards of Kiev sing the tale of your heroic victory, or your tragic sacrifice?
The Demon Mark is whispering to you. Do you hear it? Should you listen when it calls your name?

Blitzed through the "free" content in 10 minutes. Made me think that if the story quality goes on, it is only money wasted.

All Choice Of Games feature LGBT+ options. Begone, Social Injustice Warriors. Go cry about entertainment that isn't exclusively targeted at you elsewhere. As per ush with COG, it's an interesting game with a cool theme. No one else does CYOA fiction quite like they do, and their format is pretty excellent.

I still don't know if I should buy this game or not. I don't care at all about either side of the gender argument and would rather read a review of the game itself. This is dumb

The game has got an interesting story, but a few corrections are needed, namely: the pechka is a brick stove not a wooden one, in the time of the Kievan rus there weren't tsars yet, they had princes or grand dukes, the first tsar was Ivan the terrible. I'm half Ukrainian if anyone is doubting what I'm saying. But nice story nonetheless.

Didnt believe all the comments about the gender issue. Honestly i figured there was some part of the plot that required it. Maybe i missed it or misunderstood the point but the brother choosing his gender wasnt a character development, it didnt give you insight into the family or you as the player... it was just kind of there. The problem isnt that it was there, the author made such a big deal out of forcing the issue i was a little surprised once it was forced they just went along like it wasnt awkward. I had no problem with the gender role reversal of the mother and father, its a fantasy story so the author has the right to do whatever he wants. The mother and father were more relatable in the way the role reversal was explained and portrayed so it wasnt bad at all. But the brother was really confusing to read. I cant say i enjoyed the story at all really, not because of the difficulty i had understanding some of the ways the author chose to portray the brother, but the fact that the language of the story then developed into the gender neutral never use he or she, even if you pick a gender for yourself, style of writing that didnt flow at all. In the end ill read any book where I can enjoy the characters but this just wasnt one of them. Little bit disappointed with CoG because normally im a huge fan.

Never felt like my choices impacted the story, not very well written either. Some choices could use some more explanation, for example when you get to the crossroads I thought you would get to go down all three paths to see the characters there. I was allowed to go to two before the game moved forward and locked me out of path I was saving for best for last. And when you're given the choice to "hold onto" a box or give it to another character, the game should've told you hanging onto it would be seen as betrayal by the character. I didn't see how holding it meant stealing and keeping the box for myself. And honestly, the sibling being nonbinary felt really shoehorned in to check some kind of box. Just them being constantly referred to as "your sibling" made the game feel really impersonal and emotionally disconnected. Also, the way the game reverses gender roles everywhere it can is SO hamfisted I rolled my eyes wherever it happened. Seriously, just stop. It's not revolutionary. You're not winning any points. Usually love LGBT inclusive stuff, as I'm a member, and liberal as they come, but it's just done completely wrong in this game. It just tries way too hard it becomes ingratiating. I've played like 50 of these choice games and this one is definitely lower quality compared to others. It feels more like a hosted game than one actually produced by the company.
