শবে বরাত এর অর্থঃ
'শব' একটি ফারসী শব্দ এর অর্থ রাত। 'বারায়াত'কে যদি আরবী শব্দ ধরা হয় তাহলে এর অর্থ হচ্ছে সম্পর্কচ্ছেদ, পরোক্ষ অর্থে মুক্তি। যেমন কুরআন মাজীদে সূরা বারায়াত রয়েছে যা সূরা তাওবা নামেও পরিচিত। ইরশাদ হয়েছে :
بَرَاءَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ (التوبة: ১)
আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূলের পক্ষ থেকে সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করার ঘোষণা। (সূরা তাওবা, ১)
এখানে বারায়াতের অর্থ হল সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করা। 'বারায়াত' মুক্তি অর্থেও আল-কুরআনে এসেছে যেমন :
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُولَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ . (سورة القمر :৪৩)
তোমাদের মধ্যকার কাফিররা কি তাদের চেয়ে শ্রেষ্ঠ? না কি তোমাদের মুক্তির সনদ রয়েছে কিতাবসমূহে? (সূরা কামার, ৩৪)
আর 'বারায়াত' শব্দক যদি ফারসী শব্দ ধরা হয় তাহলে উহার অর্থ হবে সৌভাগ্য। অতএব শবে বরাত শব্দটার অর্থ দাড়ায় মুক্তির রজনী, সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করার রজনী। অথবা সৌভাগ্যের রাত, যদি 'বরাত' শব্দটিকে ফার্সী শব্দ ধরা হয়।
শবে বরাত শব্দটাকে যদি আরবীতে তর্জমা করতে চান তাহলে বলতে হবে 'লাইলাতুল বারায়াত'। এখানে বলে রাখা ভাল যে এমন অনেক শব্দ আছে যার রূপ বা উচ্চারণ আরবী ও ফারসী ভাষায় একই রকম, কিন্তু অর্থ ভিন্ন।
যেমন 'গোলাম' শব্দটি আরবী ও ফারসী উভয় ভাষায় একই রকম লেখা হয় এবং একইভাবে উচ্চারণ করা হয়। কিন্তু আরবীতে এর অর্থ হল কিশোর আর ফারসীতে এর অর্থ হল দাস।
সার কথা হল 'বারায়াত' শব্দটিকে আরবী শব্দ ধরা হলে উহার অর্থ সম্পর্কচ্ছেদ বা মুক্তি। আর ফারসী শব্দ ধরা হলে উহার অর্থ সৌভাগ্য।

অষ্টম শতাব্দীর যুগশ্রেষ্ঠ হাদিস বিশারদ আল্লামা নূরুদ্দীন হাইসামি (রহ.) বলেন, হাদিসটির সূত্রের সব বর্ণনাকারী 'নির্ভরযোগ্য'। (মাজমাউজ জাওয়াইদ ৮/৬৫)।
হজরত মুআজ ইবনে জাবাল (রা.) সূত্রে বর্ণিত, রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) ইরশাদ করেন, অর্ধ শাবানের রাতে অর্থাৎ শাবান মাসের ১৪ তারিখ দিবাগত রাতে আল্লাহ তায়ালা সৃষ্টিকুলের প্রতি রহমতের দৃষ্টি দেন এবং মুশরিক ও হিংসুক-বিদ্বেষী লোক ছাড়া সবাইকে ক্ষমা করে দেন। (সহিহ ইবনে হিব্বান, হা. ৫৬৬৫, আল মু'জামুল কাবীর ২০/১০৯, শুআবুল ইমান, হা. ৬৬২৮)।
এছাড়া এ মর্মে হজরত আবু বকর সিদ্দিক (রা.), আলী ইবনে আবি তালিব (রা.), আবদুল্লাহ ইবনে আমর (রা.), আবু মুসা আশআরি (রা.), আবু হুরাইরা (রা.), আয়েশা (রা.) প্রমুখ সাহাবি থেকেও হাদিস বর্ণিত হয়েছে।
হজরত আয়েশা (রা.) বলেন, এক রাতে রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) উঠে নামাজে দাঁড়িয়ে গেলেন, এতে এত দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে সিজদা করলেন যে আমার ভয় হলো তিনি মারাই গেছেন কি না। এ চিন্তা করে আমি বিছানা থেকে উঠে রাসুল (সা.)-এর বৃদ্ধাঙ্গুলি নাড়া দিই, এতে আমার বিশ্বাস হলো তিনি জীবিত আছেন।
তারপর নিজ বিছানায় ফিরে এলাম। এরপর তিনি সিজদা থেকে মাথা ওঠালেন এবং নামাজ শেষ করে আমাকে লক্ষ্য করে বললেন, হে আয়েশা! তোমার কি ধারণা হয়েছে যে নবী তোমার সঙ্গে সীমা লঙ্ঘন করেছে? আমি বলি, জি না, হে আল্লাহর রাসুল! তবে আপনার দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে সিজদার কারণে আমার মনে হয়েছে আপনি মৃত্যুবরণ করেছেন।
এরপর রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) বললেন, হে আয়েশা! তুমি কি জানো, আজকের এ রাতটি কোন রাত? আমি বললাম, আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসুল এ বিষয়ে অধিক জ্ঞাত। রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) ইরশাদ করেন, এ রাতটি অর্ধ শাবানের রাত। এ রাতে আল্লাহ তায়ালা নিজ বান্দাদের প্রতি বিশেষ করুণার দৃষ্টি দেন, অনুগ্রহপ্রার্থীদের দয়া করেন। তবে হিংসুক লোকদের তার অবস্থার ওপর ছেড়ে দেন। (শুআবুল ইমান, হা. ৩৮৩৫)। যুগশ্রেষ্ঠ মুহাদ্দিস ইমাম বায়হাকি (রহ.) বলেন, এটি উত্তম মুরসাল হাদিস। (শুআবুল ইমান ৩/৩৮৩)।
