बिरसा मुंडा एक आदिवासी नेता और लोकनायक थे। ये मुंडा जाति से सम्बन्धित थे। वर्तमान भारत में रांची और सिंहभूमि के आदिवासी बिरसा मुंडा को अब 'बिरसा भगवान' कहकर याद करते हैं। मुंडा आदिवासियों को अंग्रेज़ों के दमन के विरुद्ध खड़ा करके बिरसा मुंडा ने यह सम्मान अर्जित किया था। 19वीं सदी में बिरसा भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के इतिहास में एक मुख्य कड़ी साबित हुए थे।
Birsa Munda was a tribal leader and a public leader. These were related to Munda caste. In present India, the tribal people of Ranchi and Singhbhoomi now recall Varsha Munda as 'Birsa Bhagwan'. Birsa Munda had earned this respect by making Munda tribesmen stand against British suppression. Birsa proved to be a major link in the history of Indian independence movement in the 19th century.
