Controls & indicators
The game’s indicators are located on the left side of the screen. From the top, these are as follows:
The hints (across and down)
The first row of indicators from left to right:
The present date
The timer
The second row of buttons, from left to right:
Pause button: Momentarily stop the game’s timer.
Reset button: Returns everything to the way it was when you began.
Music button: Toggle the game’s music.
Sound effects button: Toggle the game’s audio cues.
Enlarge button: Switch between windowed and full-screen modes
Game Play
Generating puzzles
The Daily Crossword generates a different puzzle for every day of the year.
You can choose up to 365 to 366 different puzzles for each type
You can play again by choosing the puzzle of a different day on the calendar or by selecting next on the winning screen.
Solving the puzzle
Type in the words based on your best guess.
Correct letters will appear as green.
Incorrect letters will show up as red.
Tips and tricks
Some of the clues in a crossword are general knowledge questions. These should be easy to search for.
Other crossword clues are cryptic:
Wordplay: You need to pay attention to the pun it makes.
Sound clues: Sometimes the answer must be said out loud.
Anagrams: The answer is there, but scrambled.
Hidden words: The answer is somewhere in the clue itself.
