In 1848, the British political party The Communist League commissioned German philosophers Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to write a pamphlet outlining the means and ends of the party's ambitions. Originally titled "The Manifesto of the Communist Party", it was later recognised as one of the world's most influential political documents.
The Manifesto provides a reasoned approach to communistic ideals by reducing the nature of class struggle throughout history. It emphasises the injustice of capitalist production, the disassociation of workers from their labour's output, and the commodification of otherwise nourishing work.

Nevertheless, the Manifesto still resonates today among modern communists. It remains the "de facto prima scriptura" detailing the means and ends to revolutionise society to rid mankind of class struggle, once and for all.
