The Tween Star Awards™ was inspired by Shekina Moore who was moved to action after seeing a documentary about a young woman describing her worth. In the reel the young woman only described her looks--not her contributions--as being worthy of judgment. This incited fury and the rest is history! The Tween Star Awards aims to show young girls that they are more than their physical selves and to honor girls through recognition and celebration.
